McMurry's women played one of its better defensive performances of the season Friday at Edwards Field, but came up short in a 3-0 loss to UT-Tyler. McMurry allowed two goals in the first period and just a goal off a penalty kick in the second half.
McMurry's offense was unable to score its first game of the season. McMurry managed just one shot on the goal and four shots for the entire contest; Gracie Rodriguez had the only shot on the goal in the game for the hosts.
Laura McElroy, despite giving up the three goals in the contest, recorded a season-high 15 saves in the losing effort. Amanda Thomas scored in the seventh minute for the Patriots on a set up from Lauren Dailey.
Sonya Gomez scored less than 10 minutes later with an assists from Leah Soloman. Then in the second half Lauren Thomas scored on a penalty kick after a hand ball was called on McMurry inside the box.
McMurry fell to 0-6-1 on the season overall and is 0-4-1 on the year in conference play. UT-Tyler improved to 5-2-2 on the season overall and remains undefeated in conference with a 3-0-2 mark.
