A picture of Rand Stinnett may well be next to the word “success” in the dictionary.

Stinnett came to McMurry in 1975 and was a part of teams that turned around McMurry football in those years.  As a freshman, he played under coach Don Newsom and was on a team that went 2-8.  However, his second season through his senior year, he was coached by another Hall of Honor member- Spud Aldridge. By his junior year the Indians went 6-4 and improved that to 7-3 his senior year…the most wins a McMurry team had produced in a decade!  During the season, the team ascended to as high as No.-8 in the NAIA national polls and ended the year inside the top-20.

Stinnett was a four-year letterman and three-year starter at offensive tackle. He was a two-time all-Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association honoree, twice named first-team NAIA all-District 8 and a two-time NAIA All-American.  He earned multiple “Lineman of the Week” awards and, as a senior, was both the Indian's captain and voted “Outstanding Offensive Lineman.”

But Stinnett's success extended well beyond the boundaries of the football field. Some of his non-football related achievements include selection to “Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities”, the “W. Anthony Hunt Award” as Outstanding Senior Male Student in 1979, the “Outstanding Sophomore Math Student” in 1976, six terms on Dean's List, and earning a Special Honors Academic Scholarship. He served as Dorm Council Vice President, was a two-year Resident Assistant Supervisor, was twice elected as a Class Senator in Student Government, was involved in IHR men's social club, Phi Beta Lambda vice president, was on Men's Interclub Council, served as The Totem Sports Editor and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

After earning his bachelor's degree in Mathematics (with a minor in business administration) in 1979, Stinnett went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Stinnett went on to practice law in the Austin area for eight years after graduating law school. Eventually, he moved away from work with firms and began work as a solo practitioner.  He has made his mark primarily dealing with the oil and gas industries.

Since 1998, his representative legal practice has given way to his own entrepreneurial efforts in the oil and gas business, where he commonly spearheads multi-million dollar transactions.

He is the manager of Dark Horse Operating company (an oil and gas well operating company), Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder of Stars Petroleum company, the Senior Director of DCP financial Services and the Executive Chairman/Chief Legal Counsel/Founder and Director of Axia Network (a direct sales/network marketing company dealing with financial planning and management software, set to launch worldwide this year).
