O.P. Thrane, Administrator 1936-51 (Deceased)
Thrane was the business manager of McMurry during some tough economic times, but never waned in his support of the Indian athletic program. “He saw that aspect of the college as a means of getting McMurry’s name in the newspaper and in the circles of people who would support the college financially,” his colleague, Dr. Joe Humphrey, recalls.
Thrane came to McMurry in 1936 after working many years for the Snyder National Bank. While in Snyder, he was active in the Chamber of Commerce and was involved with the project to get U.S. Highway 180 routed through the town. While in Abilene, he was active at St. Paul United Methodist Church and the local Lions Club. He was also on the Board of Directors for Hendricks Home for Children. He died in 1951.
