Louis & Eugenia Pittard’s generosity has impacted McMurry’s athletics program tremendously.  Thanks to the Pittards, McMurry is one of a handful of schools in NCAA Division III to have a state-of-the-art JumboTron where instant replays, videos and music enhance the crowds’ enjoyment at football games.  The JumboTron not only enhances football game productions for fans at Wilford Moore Stadium, but it is also serves as a wonderful recruiting mechanism for prospective student-athletes who are considering attending McMurry.

The Pittards never attended a class at McMurry, but they have a vested interest in the success of the University’s athletic programs as three of their four children were student-athletes at McMurry.  Gary was a four-year letterwinner on the Indian football team from 1964-68, serving as co-captain of the 1968 team.  He was also Chief McMurry in 1968.  Nancy was a three-year letterwinner on the women’s basketball team from 1976-78, earning Most Valuable Player accolades on the 1976 and 1978 Lady Indian squads.  The former Reservation Princess (1978 recipient) now works at McMurry in the Advancement Office.  Robert was a three-year letterwinner on the Indian football team from 1977-79, earning all-conference accolades two years and a spot on the 1979 NAIA all-American honorable mention team.  Louis and Eugenia’s eldest son, Knox, played football and graduated from Baylor University, another institution the Pittards hold dear to their hearts as they have been generously supportive of Baylor, as well.
