Originally from Nebraska and later New Mexico, the Mr. and Mrs. Larry and Marcia Walrath currently reside in Abilene and are proud supporters of the War Hawks. Furthermore, their daughter is McMurry head volleyball coach Cammie Petree, who is the program's all-time winningest coach.

Mr. Walrath is from Gering, Nebraska and graduated from Gering High School in 1946, where he was the quarterback of the football team. He went on to attend the University of Wyoming as a student, earning a pharmacy degree.

Mrs. Walrath hails from York, Nebraska and graduated high school in 1947. For college, she earned a bachelor's degree from Nebraska Wesleyan in music and later completed her master's at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1983.

The couple went on to great careers, as Mr. Walrath was a registered pharmacist for Eli Lilly and Co. before retiring in 1993. While there, he was recognized as the salesman of the year. Mrs. Walrath taught public school music in Santa Fe and was elected to the New Mexico Teachers' Hall of Fame upon retirement in 1994.

In the community, the couple remain involved in numerous ways. The Walrath's are synonymous with the Meals on Wheels organization in Abilene, as they have delivered meals for over 15 years.

The couple are members at Wylie Methodist Church. Previously in Santa Fe, Mrs. Walrath served as the organist for St. John's Methodist for 18 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Walrath have three children, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two of their children are McMurry University graduates -- John Walrath '80 and Cammie Walrath Petree '83.
