Scott competed for three years for the Indian track & field program as a sprinter for head coach Vernon Hilliard. He served as a team captain his final season with the team, and in his final year he joined a sprint relay team that broke the Texas Relays record in Austin. For that performance, Hilliard awarded each member of the relay team a miniature gold track shoe.
Prior to his arrival at McMurry, Scott served two years in the U.S. Army. Following his collegiate career at McMurry he coached and taught for 32 years in the Andrews Independent School district serving the last 16 years as the Andrews Middle School principal.
Scott was a member of IHR and graduated in May of 1950 with a degree in physical education. He received his master’s degree at Sul Ross State.
