C.E. “Cricket” Christian, ‘38
A native of McLean, he was named as the best fullback R. M. Medley ever coached. He played four years of football for the Indians (34-37) and was voted Most Valuable Player by his teammates in 1937. He played on a 1936 team which beat Austin College in a game played at the Cotton Bowl.
He coached nine years at McLean, San Benito, Borger, UT-El Paso, and Kermit and served three years during World War II in the military. He entered the insurance business in 1948 and is still selling today, despite semi-retiring from his job in 1980. He and his wife have two children, (including son Max, who was an all-Southwest Conference gridder for SMU in the late 1950’s) and five grandchildren.
