C.B. “Buck” Osburn, ‘31
He was selected as one of the tackles on longtime McMurry coach R.M. Medley’s all-time team (which he named when he left McMurry in the late 1930’s). A native of Abilene, he played four years for the Indians, including the 1927 championship team. In 1930, he tied with two other collegiate players nationally for the most field goals kicked in a season.
He coached a number of years and never had team with a losing record while at Parks, Cross Plains and Longview. His 1937 Longview team beat Wichita Falls for the state championship. He retired in 1971, and is still active in his church and amateur archeology. He and his wife Kathryn have two daughters and four grandchildren.
