ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University football head coach
Lance Hinson has announced his 2015 schedule of games. The War Hawks' 10-game slate will feature four games at Wilford Moore Stadium.
Â
McM will play a total of five games versus American Southwest Conference foes, as it transitions toward full NCAA III status and ASC membership. The War Hawks schedule will also feature a pair of NCAA II opponents, two NAIA games and one other NCAA III contest.
Â
"This year's schedule will be a very challenging – but very fair – test for our young men," Hinson said. "We had a very young squad, overall, last season and inherited a schedule that really helped us to grow and mature as a unit. I think the difficult gauntlet of games we took on last season will prove to be an asset in preparing us for the 2015 campaign."
Â
Hinson's squad opens on Saturday, September 5 at East Texas Baptist University. The Tigers were 4-6 overall and 1-4 in the ASC. McM will then play its first home game of the year on Sept. 12 versus Southwestern University (1-8, 0-3 SCAC), a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Â
McMurry will then spend the next three weeks on the road, taking on NAIA teams Texas College (0-11, 0-5 Central States Football League), on Sept. 19 and CSFL champ Langston University (7-4, 5-0 CSFL) on Sept. 26, before heading to NCAA II Lincoln University (2-9, 1-7 Great Lakes Valley Conference), in Jefferson, Mo., on October 3.
Â
The War Hawks will resume their cross-town rivalry with Hardin-Simmons University (6-3, 3-2 ASC), hosting the Cowboys on Oct. 10 for McM's Homecoming Game. On Oct. 17, McMurry will take on NCAA II independent Oklahoma Panhandle State University (7-3), also at Wilford Moore Stadium.
Â
ASC member Sul Ross State (2-8, 1-4 ASC) will welcome the War Hawks to Alpine, Texas, on Oct. 24. On Oct. 31, new ASC and NCAA III member Belhaven University (2-9, 0-5 Mid-South Conference) comes to Abilene for the War Hawks' "Senior Day" and "Military Appreciation Day." Belhaven, formerly, played in the NAIA and the Mid-South Conference.haksH

Â
McMurry closes its 2015 regular season at ASC opponent Louisiana College (6-4, 4-1 ASC), the league's runner-up team, on November 7 in Pineville, La.
