ABILENE, Texas – J.D. Isler wins his first game as the McMurry University in a 98-59 rout of Barclay College Friday night at Kimbrell Arena. American Southwest Conference preseason player of the year Steven Jones scored 15 points and recorded seven boards in the contest.
 
Transfer Dominick Walker recorded a game high eight boards in his first official game as a War Hawk. Point guard and coaches son Jaden Isler guided the offense recording six assists and nine points on the night.
 
Barclay keep the score respectable for the majority of the first half until McMurry finished the half with a 16-5 run taking a 53-34 lead into the locker room. The War Hawks opened up the game starting the second half with a 20-2 ending with a a two point bucket from Evan Fletscher.
 
McMurry finished the match outscoring the Bears 25-23 over the final 15 minutes. As a team the War Hawks out rebounded Barclay 48-18. Brock Kimball was 4-6 from the floor scoring 13 points on the night.
 
McMurry moves to 1-0 on the season. The War Hawks will host Southwestern Adventist University Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in Kimbrell Arena.
