SAN ANTONIO, Texas – McMurry Unviersity's cross country programs warmed up with a short meet hosted by Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio Saturday.
Alaisha Guerra and
Trey Leffler each won their respective races for McMurry.
Guerra clocked a 4K (2.5 miles) time of 16:32 and distanced herself from the competition by 24 seconds. Her teammate,
Kyra Sloan finished in second place with a time of 16:56. The dual meet saw McMurry's women take five of the top six places. Miriam Vazquez of OLOTL took third place with a time of 17:13.
Then,
Kurstin Draper finished fourth (17:18), Nicol Rochfort placed fifth (17:45) and
Brittney McGuire rounded out the McMurry runners with a sixth-place finish (18:03).
On the men's side, Leffelr clocked a 16:02 in the men's 4.5K race (2.8 miles). He finished ahead of teammate
Michael Coursey, who finished with a time of 16:10.
Robert Jaramillo was fourth for McMurry (17:10),
Chris Bliss ran an 18:12 to finish sixth and
Donald Matthews rounded out McMurry's finishers with a ninth-place finish and a time of 19:19.
McMurry will host its only home meet of the season Saturday at Abilene's Nelson Park. The annual meet has been re-named after former McMurry cross country head coach
Bill Libby. The
Bill Libby Invitational will be an annual meet beginning Saturday.
