Meet Results
ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University's track teams made the most of its last-chance meet Thursday night in the last event before the NCAA Division III outdoor national track meet next week. Two men improved on automatic marks, two men upped their provisional marks, and two men set their first provisional marks of the season. Also, both the men's and women's 4X100-meter relay teams improved provisional marks at Wilford Moore Stadium.
Head coach Barbara Crousen had been looking for a last-chance meet to go to last week for her team, however, she decided to put together her own and five other schools participated.
Stephen Toler and
Terry Smith each improved on automatic marks in the pole vault and 400-meter hurdle race respectively. Toler jumped 17-00.75 while Smith clocked a time of 53.01 seconds.
Brock Steinbock improved his provisional mark in the pole vault with a 16-foot jump and
Eric Palmer improved on his provisional mark in the long jump with a leap of 23-04.75.
John Nation and
Kolby Barnhill each put up their first provisional marks of the season and will wait to see if their marks are picked up for nationals next week. Nation jumped 23-05.25 in the long jump while Barnhill ran a time of 54.15 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles.
Kenneth Turner, Trey Odom,
Gavan Bass and
Josh Zu-Bolton combined for a time of 41.19 seconds in the 4X100-meter relay to improve on a provisional mark.
Breanna Anderson-Burton,
Ashley Kelsey,
Porsha Dardy and
Kendra Coleman clocked a time of 48.19 seconds in the 4X100-meter race to improve the women's provisional mark.
Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio will play host to the 2010 Outdoor Championships May 27-29. Other participating schools in Thursday's meet included West Texas A&M, UT-Arlington, Wayland Baptist, Texas Lutheran, and Trinity University.
