Choctaws oust McMurry women from ASC Tennis Tournament

TYLER, Texas – Mississippi College's women ended McMurry's tennis season Friday afternoon by defeating McMurry 5-1 in the American Southwest Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on the campus of UT-Tyler.

On the doubles court McMurry was able to take the No. 2 spot for the only point of the match. Gavee Olsen and Hilary Stone teamed up to defeat Sydney Moak and Marigrace Deloach 8-5. However, the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles teams fell for McMurry.

Then, the Lady Choctaws needed just the top three players on the singles court to finish off McMurry. Andrea Boyles, Emily Newman and Deloach swept McMurry's Natalie Rodriguez, Lindsey Bloomer and Whitney Zugai respectively with a score of 6-0, 6-0 on all three matches.

The Choctaws were the No. 2 seed from the east division and improved to 10-6 overall. McMurry's season concludes with a 9-8 record.
