ABILENE, Texas - Freshman Whitney Zugai and junior Bryan Rainwater were honored by the American Southwest Conference as the ASC West Division Female and Male athletes of the week respectively for their performances last week.

Both players helped McMurry sweep Texas Lutheran and Schreiner in ASC West Division play by defeating both their opponents on the singles court and each joined their doubles partner to take two wins from each school as well.

Rainwater also played the No. 15 player in the nation, Erick DelaFuente, when McMurry fell to Trinity and played him tough falling 6-4, 6-4.

For Zugai, the two victories on the singles court were her first two against ASC opponents this season. She and her doubles partner, Karlie Dieterich, were 3-2 on the season after Saturday's matches.

Rainwater is 9-8 on the season overall on the singles court while he and Will Davis are 11-6 on the doubles court this season.

The award, announced on Wednesday's did not take into consideration Tuesday's matches between McMurry and Howard Payne even though McMurry's men and women each took wins.
