Altstaetter highlights first day of finals from Liberal Arts Meet

Friday's Final Results

ELSAH, Ill. – McMurry's Alex Altstaetter picked up a win in day two of the Liberal Arts Swimming and Diving Championships Friday. She blew away the competition in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.22 seconds finishing ahead of the runner up by 1.83 seconds, and she knocked 3.5 seconds off her Thursday preliminary time.

Friday marked the first day of final events for the meet which gathers together the independent NCAA Division III teams from around the country treating it as its own conference meet.

In addition, the women's 200-yard medley relay team finished second with a time of 1:53.29. The team consisted of Altstaetter, Elise Hager, Amber Perkins and Erin Johnson and McMurry was 4.01 seconds behind the winning time.

On the men's side, Craig Osterman finished fourth in the men's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.50 seconds. Daniel Harber placed sixth in the men's 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.19.

McMurry concludes the meet Saturday with several more events for which McMurry will compete in the finals. The meet marks the final competition of the 2009-2010 season.
